Luxury construction vest, Grenade skirt and Ripped freestyle top
With this vest, I followed my pattern of the single-cut vest. I was excited to combine a fabric that has nothing to do with construction occupation with a standard reflective layout seen in construction work-wear. The thought came from “shape-shifting” graffiti artists who wear construction gear to sneak into restricted areas unnoticed.
100% cotton velvet 3M recycled reflective tape, reflected piping, reflective orange nylon
Grenade skirt. Heavy weight linen with denim straps, 39 pockets for spray cans
The modular design of the skirt and the vest comes from the dynamic tank armor. It is a type of armor that explodes towards the projectile to minimize the risk of penetration. The desired effect is to create a look that projects strength and protection. It represents my belief in the connection between "Street Fashion" and militaristic garments, along with a wearer's desire for functional clothes in modern society. Function becomes a design decision regardless of its purpose.
My goal was to develop a pattern for the vest, which is a single cut. The key is to create efficiency in construction and the ability to have a variable silhouette depending on the material.
On this sketch, the looks shown are Buffed Plaid Look, Smashed Look, Recycled Mansion Look, and Grenade Look. The proportions are slightly different in the actual pieces in the Grenade Look. Though, the overall display of pocket systems is clear. The sizing of the skirt pockets was derivative of the size of the 400ml spray can.
